But she didn’t always have a life an easy life. From being at the receiving end of bullies, some time past in her secondary school days to also being raised by a awfully strict father
In a 2010 interview with the Vanguard after winning the third edition of Project Fame West Africa , Chidinma was asked why it appeared like she was the only one who wasn’t emotional the day she performed a heart touching song in the as at then, just concluded Project Fame that brought her to the limelight
She responded saying that she learned to be tough as she was raised by a disciplinarian father. She described her upbringing as going through Hell that only made her stronger. In her words “I went through hell, but it only made me stronger so now i am hardly moved by little things.
Furthermore, she talked about how in her secondary school days, a great deal of individuals were always intimidating and calling her names because she was the smallest in class. She said they were always talking about her and even nicknamed her ‘Small’ and overtime she toughened up.
Chidinma Ekile was born on the 2nd of May, 1991 in Lagos state, she is the last of six children and her parents hail from Imo state. She started singing at the age of six years and joined the choir when she became an adolescent.
In 2010, Chidinma joined over 8000 contestants for a chance to showcase their talents in the third edition of the Project Fame West Africa . After 10 weeks of being coached by the project’s trainers, Chidinma won the competition and bagged some mouth-watering deals, a 2.5 million naira cash prize and a Toyota RAVA 4.

Winning the competition brought her to the limelight, and after then she has been soaring high. She released a hit song titled “Kedike” which translates to Heartbeat and in 2012, she won Best Female West Africa Act Kora Awards.
Chidinma said there wasn’t much about her before the project fame, but what many of us still do not know is that she was certified blind at birth but God came through for her
In an interview with Guardian, she disclosed that after she was born in 1991 and was blind for months. This interview was after releasing a song titled ‘Martha’ an appreciation song to her mother, for all that she went through for her(Chidinma)
She had made a post about the song on Instagram and said it absolutely was more of an appreciation song, to her mother who never gave up on her. She disclosed that she was born and certified blind at birth and her mother never gave up on her. Her mother would hold her every night, weeping and praying to God for a miracle of sight upon her(Chidinma)
She disclosed that she was born with some health conditions aside from being blind, but God answered her mother’s prayers and came through for them, and she miraculously received her sight and total healings from other health conditions
In the interview with Guardian, she also said that her miracle has been the reason why she has been dedicating her
resources to assist visually impaired/blind people, through her Mma Charity Foundation
She added that the world was a beautiful place and she can imagine the pain blind go through, as they are unable to see it.
